New faces:

Hollie Westley, formerly with Layman, Loft & White, has joined the law firm of Chase, Hayes & Kalamon as an associate. She is a Gonzaga University Law School graduate. Her practice will include corporate and business law as well as health care litigation.

Julie Payne has joined Merrill Lynch’s Coeur d’Alene office as a financial consultant. Payne, who was formerly with Smith Barney in Spokane, received a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.

Gonzaga Preparatory School has named Trish McFarland its development director. McFarland’s responsibilities include overseeing alumni affairs, fund-raising, volunteerism, endowment growth, deferred or planned giving and communications and marketing. McFarland was executive director of The Ronald McDonald House in Spokane for the past six years.

The Spokane County Medical Society has accepted the following new members:

Dr. Andrew Chiu has joined Dr. Roberto Auffant in the practice of anesthesiology. Chiu graduated from Oregon University and completed an internship and residency at Sinai Hospital in 1993.

Dr. Martha DeBolt has joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of pediatrics. She is a University of Oklahoma graduate and completed an internship, residency and fellowship at Mayo Graduate School in 1993.

Dr. Ted Guarino joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of child neurology. Guarino, who is a graduate of Loyola Stritch University, completed an internship, residency and fellowship at Stanford University this year.

Dr. Ryan Holbrook will be entering private practice in surgical oncology. He graduated from Northwestern University and completed an internship and residency at New England Medical Center in 1988. Holbrook also completed a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1989.

Dr. Tracy Magnuson has joined Drs. Schrock, Bell & Guthrie in the practice of general surgery. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland and completed her internship, residency and fellowship at the University of Maryland this year.

Dr. Claudia Ostermeyer has joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of internal medicine. She graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1984 and completed an internship and residency at Baragwanath Hospital in 1987. Ostermeyer also completed a fellowship at St. Vincent Hospital in 1991.

Dr. John Wallace joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of internal medicine. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1985 and completed an internship and residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 1988. Wallace completed a fellowship at the University of Kansas in 1994.

Dr. Diana Hager has joined Dr. Hampton Irwin in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology. Hager graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1991 and completed an internship at Deaconess Medical Center in 1992. She completed a residency this year at the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Robert Handy joined Inland Imaging in the practice of radiology. Handy is a graduate of the University of Texas and completed an internship at Sacred Heart Hospital in 1990. He completed a residency and fellowship this year at University Medical Center.

Loren Ayresman, a graduate of Whitworth College, has joined Zirkle & Co. Business Brokers and Investment Bankers as a financial analyst. Ayresman duties will include financial analysis, appraisal research and client support.

Moving Up:

Thomas Polsin has been promoted to branch manger for Crawford & Co.’s Eastern Washington and Idaho Division.

Starting up:

Wendy Ohme has opened Nurse Consultants Northwest to provide life care planning, medical care management and consultation services. Ohme has 23 years of experience in nursing and served on the board of directors for the Inland Empire Medical Case Management Association.

Telect Inc. has established a Worldwide Web site on the Internet. The address is http://www.telect.com. The site provides Telect customers and sales representatives with immediate access to product and technical data.

Transactions:

Jasbir and Jaswant Thabel have purchased Grocery Boys store and real estate at 3414 N. Crestline from Grocery Boys Inc. The transaction was handled by Julie Rector and Robert Hanson of Watson Co. Inc. Realtors.

Virginia Burns has purchased the Children’s Center on Wall from Robert and Stacy Cossey. Chuck Lund and Brian Wilson of Watson Co. Inc. Realtors handled the transaction.

Appointed:

Idaho Governor Phil Batt appointed David Bodine of Grangeville; Nate Riggers of Nezperce; and David Wilken of Kendrick to serve a three-year term on the Idaho Pea and Lentil Commission. Bodine is a diversified farmer and was appointed to his second year term on the commission. Riggers a pea, lentil, wheat and barley farmer, replaces John Miller on the commission. Wilkens raised crops including lentils and chickpeas, replaces John Carter on the commission.

Opportunity:

Applications are now available for non-profit organizations with 501C3 status to apply for grants from Women Helping Women Fund, a non-profit organization which empowers women and children for the benefit of the community. Applications are available at the Spokane Public Library, 811 W. Main, and the the Women Helping Women office, 405 S. Stevens. Applications will be due by 5 p.m. Oct. 30, 1995.
