Event To Help Diabetes Fight

Volunteers have until 4 p.m. today to sign up for a walk-a-thon at Sullivan Park in the Spokane Valley to raise money for diabetes research.

The event, called Walktoberfest, is organized by the Eastern Washington and North Idaho affiliate of the American Diabetes Association.

Money raised will help the more than 45,000 people in the Spokane area and nearly 16 million people nationwide who have diabetes, according to a statement by the association.
