Tyson, King Don’t Show

Compiled From Wire Services

Buster Mathis Jr., a tear in his eye after the recent death of his father but obvious steel in his resolve, showed up at what was supposed to be a Mike Tyson-Don King press conference in New York for Fox TV network and stole the show.

It was easy. Tyson and King weren’t there. Presumably, they’ll be around Nov. 4 when Fox and free home TV collide with a pay-per-view show capped by the third Riddick Bowe-Evander Holyfield bout.

The New York Daily News learned that Caesars Palace and TVKO will not be hounded by Fox and King and will stick to the planned date.

Fox’s free show is planned for 5-8 p.m. PST. Bowe-Holyfield, the $40 buy for the WBO heavyweight title, will start closer to 9 p.m. on the West Coast.

Danny Romero’s eye is healing faster than expected and he still intends to defend his IBF flyweight title Dec. 1.

WBC super featherweight champ Gabriel Ruelas will make the third defense of his title Dec. 1 against top contender Azumah Nelson.
