Sandpoint Still Perfect After Downing Cda
Unbeaten Sandpoint rolled to its ninth straight victory and maintained its perfect record in Inland Empire League play by defeating Coeur d’Alene in straight sets Thursday night at Sandpoint.
The Bulldogs, with Jenny Lee serving the majority of their points and Jessica Janke contributing three aces, lifted their league record to 4-0. Coeur d’Alene dropped to 2-2, 13-15.
In the other IEL match in Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston (1-2, 9-6) notched its first league victory by thumping Lake City (2-2, 7-6) 15-3, 15-6 despite Jenn Owen’s 19 digs.
Intermountain League
Helped by Melissa Hei’s three aces and 14-for-14 service, Bonners Ferry (3-4, 4-6) knocked off Kellogg (3-3, 5-6).
Amy Lemm had 10 kills and eight assists as Moscow (2-6, 3-9) escaped the cellar by knocking off Lakeland 15-1, 15-10. Cora Christensen had eight blocks for Lakeland (1-5, 5-9).
North Star League
Sarah Peterson, helped by 13 assists from Latisha Taylor, notched 14 kills to go with seven service aces as Falls Christian (5-1, 10-9) preserved its share of first place by beating Mullan (2-2, 7-6) 15-6, 16-14.
Non-league
Christy Coyle contributed 11 kills and three blocks as Priest River (15-4) outfought visiting Clark Fork (14-5) 15-11, 8-15, 15-12, 15-12. Jacey Vogrig had five aces, seven kills and three blocks for Priest River.
Joy Sperry had 13 kills and six blocks as Wallace (16-5) conquered Kootenai (5-12) 14-16, 15-5, 15-2.
Harmony Hammons had 11 digs and eight kills as Potlatch defeated host Lakeside 16-14, 15-4. Ruth Brand’s 12 digs led Lakeside (0-17).
Soccer
Erica Mays scored twice and Holly Davidson had a goal and two assists as Moscow pulled away in the second half for a 6-0 non-league victory over Pullman at Moscow.
