Presentations Aim For Spiritual Awakening
October is being promoted as the month to pray for spiritual awakening in Washington.
Known as Washington Awakening, the statewide prayer revival is sponsored by the Washington Consultation on United Prayer and several churches and church leaders.
Spokane’s Washington Awakening will be Sunday and Tuesday at Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard, with “America, You’re Too Young to Die,” a multimedia presentation from the Life Action Singers.
The group will give two performances - at 3 and 6 p.m.
“America, You’re Too Young to Die,” designed to entice people to turn to God and prayer, has played to more than 3 million people and was produced for a TV special.
On Tuesday, Washington Awakening will present a youth-oriented program called Pledge Allegiance Tour at Ferris High School’s auditorium.
This 90-minute drama/musical, performed by the King’s Kids, covers the same ground as “America …”
Washington Awakening will conclude with a rally in Ellensburg Oct. 27 and 28.

Commission convention
The Living Hope Church, formerly known as the Ironwood Chapel, in Coeur d’Alene, will host its Great Commission Convention next Saturday and Sunday.
The two-day event features speakers, a concert and a banquet. Speakers include Dileepe De Alwis, a missionary from Sri Lanka, and Donnie Swaggart, a missionary and evangelist from Baton Rouge, La.
The banquet will be at 6 p.m. Saturday. The concert, at 8, will feature country-gospel artists Rick and Bebe Svendal.
“The purpose is to basically stir the heart of people toward missions, toward needs locally as well as foreign,” said the Rev. John Filler, Living Hope’s pastor. “We try to get them to recognize the needs that are around us, local and foreign, in the spreading of the gospel of Jesus.”
