Suspect Arrested Following Attacks
A Spokane Valley man was arrested after attacking a woman, hitting his brother, threatening to shoot law enforcement officers and choking a sheriff’s deputy, authorities said.
Reynaldo L. Israel, 34, of 6316 S. Pittsburg, was being held in the county jail Sunday night on an old traffic warrant, two counts of domestic violence, one count of malicious mischief and one count of assaulting an officer.
Authorities said Israel struck a 47-year-old woman with a chair and slammed her against a wall. His brother tried to help, and he was hit in the face.
Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Lyons responded to a domestic violence call at Israel’s residence about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Washington State Patrol Sgt. Lee Boling was already there.
Israel threatened to shoot the pair, then ran into the home, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement.
People inside told authorities that Israel had assaulted them. Then he reappeared holding a lamp and tried to hit Lyons, the statement said.
Israel tackled Lyons and started choking him, according to the department. Boling and another man pulled him off and he was arrested.
