Police Seek Students For Summer Program
The Spokane Police Department is recruiting students for its annual summer program called Leadership, Education and Development, or LEAD.
Police officers are especially interested in kids who have demonstrated leadership ability in school or other activities.
Students picked for the program spend four days in classes at the police training center. They learn community responsibility, how to run meetings and give effective speeches.
Police also talk about law enforcement as a career and there are physical fitness exercises, including marching.
Students in the eighth, ninth and 10th grades are eligible for the free program.
For more information on LEAD, or to get an application, call 625-4085 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
There will be five sessions throughout the summer. The first begins June 25. , DataTimes
