Oscars Help Abc Grab Ratings Win

ABC parlayed its No. 1-ranked Oscars telecast into victory in the prime-time Nielsen ratings.

With 50 percent of the TV audience tuned to the 68th Annual Academy Awards, ABC landed nine shows in the Top 25, winning the week of March 25-31 with an 11.8 rating and a 20 percent share of the U.S. audience.

NBC, the season-to-date front-runner, was in second place with five of the Top 10 shows, an 11.5 rating and 19 share. Third-ranked CBS had a 9.4 rating, 16 share, and Fox Broadcasting Co. earned a 6.6 rating, 11 share, programming 15 of the 22 prime-time hours.
