Johnson Matthey Wraps Up Acquisition
Johnson Matthey Electronics’ acquisition of the printed circuit board operations of Cray Research Inc. was completed last week.
The two companies announced the $40 million transaction early in February.
The assets acquired include Cray’s state-of-the-art printed circuit board manufacturing facility in Chippewa Falls, Wis., all installed production equipment, on-hand inventory and the plant’s trained 350-person work force.
Johnson Matthey Electronics, headquartered in Spokane, has expanded rapidly through internal growth and acquisition over the past three years.
“In the past six months, Johnson Matthey has dramatically elevated itself from a virtual non-participant in the PC board market to a $200-million-a-year supplier,” Geoff Wild, president of Johnson Matthey Electronics, said in a news release Friday. “The manufacturing technology and facilities acquired from Cray will consolidate our strong position as a producer of highly complex PC boards.”
Johnson Matthey Electronics is a division of London-based Johnson Matthey Plc.
