Snow Sport Report
Alpine skiing
Schweitzer becomes the latest casualty of spring. The Idaho resort announced that Sunday will be its last day of skiing. In the meantime, it is offering a spring break weekend special. For $35 (students) or $50 (adults), one can ski the whole weekend. Info: (208) 263-9555.
Brundage is still open, with a tentative closing date of April 14 - but not before throwing its annual Crazy Days closing bash April 13 and 14. This Sunday features the Brundage Easter egg hunt. Info: (208) 634-4151.
Mission Ridge, one of the last Washington mountains open, also closes Sunday. It is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and has lift tickets running from $20-$15. Info: (800) 374-1693.
Nordic skiing
Head to Republic for the region’s best cross country skiing. The Kettle Crest Trail in the Republic Ranger District is still open up to Sherman Peak, with a 3-foot base. Best snow is on the north side. Info: (509)-775-3305.
Methow Valley stopped grooming last weekend, but there is still worthwhile backcountry skiing to be had, particularly on the North Cascades Highway.
Snowmobiling
Republic Ranger District offers some good snowmobiling. Make your way up to the Empire Lakes trail system and the Albian Hill road system for best conditions.
