Dollar Climbs Vs. Yen, Mark

The dollar finished slightly higher against most leading currencies Thursday after weak U.S. stock prices undermined the greenback and erased an earlier rally in overnight trading.

The dollar finished the day slightly higher against the Japanese yen after hitting a new 26-month high before U.S. markets opened Thursday morning. The dollar also finished higher against the German mark.

In late New York trading, the dollar was worth 108.41 yen, up from 108.40 late Wednesday. The dollar also was trading at 1.5020 marks, up from 1.4973.
