Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: My puppy was finally housebroken when we had to leave her at a boarding kennel. When she came home, she started wetting indoors all over again, as if she was never housebroken.

Do you have any suggestions on what we should do to retrain her? - Katie Larson, Houston

The best way to retrain your puppy, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is to teach your new dog old tricks.

If you don’t have a crate and you’ve successfully trained her before, start all over again.

Take her out frequently on a leash and when she eliminates, praise her. Keep her in a confined area when you are gone.

Have patience and good luck! - Heloise
