Dante Bichette hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, his first this season, as Colorado rallied from five runs down for a win over San Diego.

Ron Gant homered, doubled and drove in four runs as St. Louis beat Pittsburgh.
Gant had an RBI double in the first inning and hit a three-run homer in the third, his fourth, off John Ericks (0-2). The homer staked Cardinals rookie starter Alan Benes (2-0) to a 5-1 lead.
Clearing the bases
Pitcher Hideo Nomo of the Los Angeles Dodgers was honored as National League player of the week.
Nomo pitched two complete game three-hitters last week, allowing one earned run and striking out 23 batters. Last year’s NL Rookie of the Year, he pitched the season’s first shutout when he blanked Atlanta on April 8 and followed that with a 17-strikeout victory over Florida five days later.
