Anglers Reminded To Check Their Catch

From Staff And Wire Reports

Anglers can do their part to help save the endangered Snake River chinook salmon this spring.

The Columbia Basin Salmon Enforcement Team is reminding anglers to carefully distinguish between rainbow trout and chinook salmon. When the young chinook head toward the Pacific Ocean, they look similar to rainbow trout.

But the chinook tailfin is deeply forked, while the trout’s tailfin is squared off with only a moderate fork.
