Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: To defrost foods, place in a nonstick skillet or on a large nonstick griddle, if you have one. Do not preheat. As a test, try putting an ice cube on the surface and see how fast it melts. - JoAnn Kleptz, Terre Haute, Ind.

Wow! Don’t even turn on the heat! We tried this several times, with different types of pans, plates and plastic and it works!

I know there is a simple physics process working here and I would love to hear from my readers about it and any other hint you use to make life easier.- Heloise, PO Box 795000, San Antonio, TX 78279-5000. xxxx
