Hasbro Settles Deceptive Ad Case
Hasbro Inc. has agreed to pay a $280,000 penalty to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it violated an agreement not to run deceptive toy advertising, the agency said Wednesday.
In its latest case against the Pawtucket, R.I.-based toy maker, the FTC alleged that Hasbro commercials misled children into believing they could operate the “Colorblaster” paint-sprayer toy with ease.
But the FTC said Hasbro used a motorized device during filming to provide the pressure needed to easily operate the toy and achieve the results seen in the commercial.
