Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: When you’re traveling and staying in motels, they always have bright, glaring lights outside the doors.

I always take push pins, thumbtacks and wooden (or plastic) clothespins along, and I pull the center of the drapes together and fasten with the clothespins.

I use the tacks to keep the drapes pinned to the wall. This makes for a nice dark room for a good night’s sleep! - Becky P., Colorado Springs, Colo.

Dear Heloise: To prevent the metal hook of a coat hanger from causing rust marks on the collars of men’s white shirts, cut off a 2-inch piece from the cardboard core of a bathroom tissue roll and slide it over the hook (and leave it there!). - Polly Bruch, Southbury, Conn. xxxx
