Acting Opportunities Abound At Area Theaters

Not surprising, with summer winding down and local theater and music groups preparing for their upcoming seasons, there are a slew of auditions notices.

Spokane’s Children Theatre is conducting auditions for its forthcoming production of “The Pale Pink Dragon” on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 4 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. at St. Aloysius School, 611 E. Mission.

There are main roles open for children ages 10 and up. A few chorus parts are open for children 5-9. Candidates 10 and older must prepare a brief song no longer than one minute. An accompanist will be provided. Bring sheet music and be prepared to dance.

Valley Repertory Theatre is holding auditions for its fall musical, “Personals,” Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the theater, southwest corner of Sprague and Pines.

“Personals” has roles for three men and three women ages 20-40. Come prepared to sing; bring your own music.

The Inland Northwest Men’s Chorus is recruiting new members. The ensemble has been a part of the local music community for eight years.

The chorus performs several times a year. If you are interested, join them on their first day of rehearsals Sept. 3 at 7:15 p.m. at Westminster Congregational Church, Fourth and Washington.

Seattle’s Unexpected Productions, which produces Seattle Theatersports, is seeking performers to establish an improvisational troupe in Spokane. For more information, call Mark Thompson at 747-8317.
