Store Robbery May Be Connected

From Staff And Wire Reports

An East Mission convenience store robbery Wednesday night may be linked to two others this week, police said.

A man walked into Jax 24-Hour Foods about 10:20 p.m. and went behind the counter, holding one hand inside his jacket as if he had a weapon, according to police.

The robber shoved something into the clerk’s back and forced her to open the cash register. He grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, according to reports.

The clerk ran outside and yelled for help. Two people tried to follow the robber’s van, but lost it after several blocks. They wrote down a license plate number and gave it to police.

Earlier Wednesday, a man robbed the Maid O’ Clover, 2005 N. Hamilton. A man held up the Jackpot Food Mart, 7018 E. Sprague, Tuesday night.

In all three heists, no weapon was seen, police report. The robbers were described in each case as an Hispanic man, in his 20s or 30s, wearing dark glasses. He weighs about 180 pounds and is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, witnesses said.
