Despite Illness, Pope Plans Foreign Trips
Pope John Paul II plans to keep to a foreign travel agenda that includes trips to Hungary and France, despite a bout of abdominal illness this week.
John Paul was “feeling fine” and took a walk after breakfast in the gardens of his vacation palace in Castel Gandolfo, Vatican spokesman Rev. Ciro Benedettini said Friday.
The 76-year-old pontiff skipped a public Mass on Thursday because of an abdominal problem, raising more concerns about his health.
The pope is scheduled to visit Hungary on Sept. 6-7 and France on Sept. 19-22.
