Missing Bonner County Girl Found Unhurt

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 2-year-old Bonner County girl missing for 17 hours was found Sunday morning in bushes about a quarter-mile from her home, sheriff’s deputies said.

The girl, who was not identified, disappeared at 5 p.m. Saturday. She was found unharmed about 10 a.m. Sunday near her home on Garfield Bay Road, about two miles south of Highway 95.

About 100 people scoured the woods for the toddler. Fifty were from the sheriff’s search-and-rescue team, and the rest were volunteers.

Investigators don’t have many details about the child’s adventure, said Deputy Tia Abey.

“She’s only two,” Abey said. “She can’t tell them much.”
