Hearing Waived In Molestation Case
Bob Brown, former Coeur d’Alene city councilman and former head of the Kootenai County Democratic Party, waived his preliminary hearing Monday on a charge he molested his stepgrandson.
Brown was charged in May with lewd conduct for allegedly initiating oral sex with the 14-year-old boy during a visit to Brown’s home last year.
Brown is now scheduled to enter his plea to the charge on Aug. 26.
Attorneys in the case would not comment on what he plans to plead or whether a plea bargain is expected. Brown could not be reached for comment Monday.
Brown has been a longtime arts and human rights activist in Coeur d’Alene. He stepped down as chairman of the Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee after his arrest.
According to Kootenai County sheriff’s reports, Brown was tape recorded admitting to the crime.
