Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: My daughter and I were getting ready to paint her bedroom. While I was getting the roller, replacement roller and pan, I found I only had a 12-inch roller replacement.

When I got the pan for the 12-inch roller, it was rusty. I didn’t want the rust in the new paint. So, I started thinking.

I then went and grabbed a clear plastic bag, put it over the paint pan, tied the end and poured in the paint. In about 30 minutes, my daughter was done painting her room, since she only painted halfway up (we want to paper the upper half). Cleanup was even faster. - Sandy McRay, Somerville, Ohio

Dear Heloise: Wallpaper, especially the washable kind, is great to line shelves, particularly in the kitchen cabinets. To coordinate, buy extra when you wallpaper or pick up rolls at surplus sales. - E. Bires, Medford, Ore.
