Officer Can’t Arrest Escaping Squad Car

A Bothell police officer suffered a bruised ego when his patrol car rolled away without him.

The driverless car rolled across Bothell Way Monday, went down an embankment and into a tree, resulting in $5,000 damage. No one was injured.

Police say the officer is a 10-year veteran who was backing up another officer on a traffic stop when he left his car in gear.
