Reserve Qb Leaves Ucla
UCLA quarterback Steve Buck, a backup behind another sophomore, Cade McNown, will transfer following the completion of the fall quarter, Bruins football coach Bob Toledo said Monday.
Buck has not decided where he is going to school, but Toledo indicated it would be a Division I-AA institution so the quarterback will be able to play next fall and will retain two years of eligibility.
Buck, a 6-foot-5, 200-pounder, who completed 6 of 18 passes for 91 yards, said in a statement he enjoyed his two years at UCLA, but “I have only two seasons remaining and I am anxious to be a starting quarterback and this seems like my best alternative.”
