Erik Carlson scored 20 points Wednesday and University (1-0) made 16 of 18 free throws to defeat visiting Post Falls 60-52 in a non-league boys basketball game.
The Trojans (0-1) forced nine turnovers in the second half to pull within four points.

Jon Klarich of Warden, Wash., has begun publishing The Basketball Bulletin, a newsletter devoted to Washington Class A girls teams.
The initial bulletin included a pre-season look at each league, day-by-day league schedules, and an article by Lakeside coach Lisa Shultz on how to start a program.
Klarich’s preseason rankings placed Lakeside No. 3 and Colfax No. 8. Newport also receives votes.
The three NEA powers will jockey for just one berth to state this year. Lakeside and Newport advanced last year.
