Planned Vtv Sale Collapses

From Staff And Wire Reports

A deal to sell a wireless cable TV company in Spokane to a California telephone company has been nixed, an official said Monday.

Rene Wukich, general manager of VideoWave Television in Spokane, with nearly 9,000 subscribers, said the company recently learned that an agreement to be acquired by Pacific Telesis in San Francisco had been dropped. No explanation was given.

VTV was founded as Skyline Entertainment in 1990, but was acquired in 1994 by Wireless Holding International, a subsidiary of Videotron in Montreal, and Transworld Television in Salt Lake City. Besides its Spokane operations, Wireless Holding has Florida and California operations.

Pacific Telesis signed an agreement last year to buy Wireless Holding. But Pacific Telesis itself was acquired this year by SBC Communications Inc. in San Antonio for $16.7 billion. , DataTimes
