Dear Heloise: When potpourri loses its fragrance, I recycle it by spreading it in my potted plants. It looks pretty and keeps my cat from digging in the plants. - Jane Mulrenan, San Antonio

Dear Heloise: I see so many hints in your column that I already use, but I enjoy seeing new ones. We all have our own little hints that we don’t think anything about until we see them in print. Here’s one I use a lot.

I use those little self-sticking notes as bookmarks for any literature. Just put the sticky end on the page and leave the other sticking out of the book or magazine.

If you want, you can use several and write the subject on the ends that are visible, or mark a page that you want to show to someone. - Joan Shouse, Lockwood, Mo. xxxx
