Stove Blamed In Fire Fatal To 4
A mobile home fire that killed a family of four in rural Washington County started in a ceiling above a wood stove, state police said Sunday.
The heat from the stove started the fire in the ceiling above it, and the fire quickly spread, state police Lt. Gregg Hastings said.
Kent and Pam Hubbard and their two children, Samantha, 4, and Cody, 2, died in the fire, reported about 3 a.m. Saturday.
The mobile home was located in a rural area north of U.S. Highway 26 between North Plains and Buxton, about 29 miles west of Portland.
