Dear Heloise: My sister eats oatmeal for breakfast a lot, so we buy the large containers.

When the containers are empty she uses them to store fragile Christmas ornaments and labels the top of each box. They are useful and handy to have around, so start saving them now. - Margaret Gardlik, Aliquippa, Pa.

Dear Heloise: The popcorn- and pretzel-filled decorated canisters available during the holidays are great to reuse.

To add a festive decorating touch, I use them as wastebaskets during Christmas (lined, of course). When it’s time to put decorations away, I fill them with my Christmas tree ornaments, lights and the like. - Muriel Moon, San Antonio
