Would-Be Escapee Delivered To Cell
An inmate who tried to break out of prison in a box via UPS got an express trip back to his cell Thursday.
David A. Neel, a 48-year-old man serving up to life in prison for molesting a child, was found just outside the institution in a big box with an address sticker. The box was its way to a United Parcel Service station.
A guard opened the package.
“The guard went through kicking the boxes, like he normally does. For some reason, he thought this one didn’t seem quite right,” Corrections Department spokesman Jack Ford said.
Ford didn’t know the box’s destination. He said Neel apparently intended to break out of the carton and flee after he got far enough from the prison.
