Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Here are a few of my housekeeping hints.

I have always found underwear and socks take up valuable space in our bedroom dresser drawer, space which can be used for other clothes. My husband and I put our socks in one of those fivegallon metal cans that holds popcorn. The can is decorative and handy.

For the underwear, we find that a suitable-size cardboard box or milk crate fits well in our closets.

My hair accessories used to clutter our bathroom, so I tidied the area by putting my elastic bands around the base of the air freshener can, readily available. The barrettes are on a belt I looped around the corner of a towel rack. Our bathroom looks much neater now. - Sheila Edwards, Waialua, Hawaii

All good clutter-control hints. I do the same for socks; it’s much easier to find the right pair. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: Most patients in a hospital are under stress, nervous in strange surroundings and feeling lousy. You think of all the things you want to ask your doctor, but before you know it he has come and gone.

The solution is to write down a list of questions and when the doctor appears, hand him the list and you will get the answers. It works every time! - Marilyn Pastrick Jr., Fort Wayne, Ind.
