Claudia Reyna’s goal in the 48th minute gave the United States a 2-2 tie with Guatemala in a CONCACAF World Cup soccer qualifier.

The United States and five other teams advanced to the second round, while Guatemala was eliminated from competition for a spot in the World Cup tournament in France in 1998.

The first American goal was scored by Preki Radsavljevic in the seventh minute.
