Kwan Defeats Yamaguchi

Michelle Kwan took advantage of Kristi Yamaguchi’s tumble to win the women’s singles while Todd Eldredge won the men’s event in the Ultimate Four figure skating championships.

Yamaguchi, who won last week’s event in Landover, Md., was the leader entering the night session, but fell on her first jump.

Eldredge completed a clean sweep, capturing the evening competition and winning the men’s singles. Eldredge, the 1995 United States and world champion, finished ahead of local favorite Paul Wylie, Scott Hamilton and Kurt Browning.
