Hidden Lake Takes First

Hidden Lake overtook Belle’s Flag in the late going to win the $130,900 La Brea Stakes by one length before a crowd of 12,224 at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Chris McCarron and carrying 115 pounds, Hidden Lake covered seven furlongs in 1:22 and paid $15.20, $5.80 and $3.80.

The win was the third, two of them against older fillies and mares, in 13 lifetime starts for Hidden Lake, a 3-yearold. The victory was worth $80,900, increasing the career earnings of the Kentucky-bred daughter of Quiet American to $249,889.
