Sutter’s Free Throw Lifts Ewu

Tina Smith had 20 points and Jennifer Sutter hit a free throw with 9 seconds remaining in overtime as Eastern Washington edged Montana State 71-69 Friday at Cheney.

The Bobcats (10-9 overall, 4-2 Big Sky) rallied from a seven-point deficit with 4:46 remaining and tied the game 62-62 on a jumper by Brooke Svendsen with 38 seconds left to force overtime.

Melissa Beil hit a layup to pull MSU within 70-69 with 25 seconds left in overtime.

Sutter missed the front end of a one-and-one, but the Eagles got the rebound and Sutter was fouled again, hitting one free throw.
