Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I have a hint for a wedding or shower gift that has always been a big hit when I do it.

Buy a three-ring cookbook or a file box with blank recipe cards in it. Before the big event distribute the blank cards or pages to relatives and friends of the couple. Ask them to write their favorite recipe on the card and be sure they sign it. Reassemble the book or box with the recipes and you have a unique, memorable gift.- Marge Croker, Seneca Falls, N.Y.

I have compiled a pamphlet chock-full of my favorite recipes. To receive a copy of my All-Time Favorite Recipes pamphlet, send $2 and a self-addressed, stamped (55 cents), long envelope to: Heloise/Recipes, PO Box 795001, San Antonio TX 78279-5001.

Dear Heloise: I recently had foot surgery and have to use a pair of crutches to get around. In doing this, I have no free hands in which to carry anything. So I use my husband’s carpenter’s apron. It works great.

I now carry the phone, paper, pen for messages, household cleaners, newspaper, pills, anything that’s needed. - Mary Parrish, Duncannon, Pa.

Thanks for taking the time to send this handy helping hint. Hope you are crutchless soon. - Heloise
