Fourth-Quarter Rally Saves Sandpoint Win
For three quarters, Wednesday’s Inland Empire League boys basketball game at Sandpoint looked like a typical matchup between a second-place team and a team trying to stay out of the cellar.
The fourth quarter changed the game’s flavor, however, as the Bulldogs (7-12, 2-5) found the spark to beat visiting Post Falls 70-66. Trailing by eight to 12 points for much of the game, Sandpoint generated a 20-5 run to confound the Trojans (9-8, 4-3).
David Boren’s 3-pointer tied the score at 59. Freshman Paul Nieman followed with the go-ahead basket, then Jared Herrington and Caleb Bowman scored four apiece down the stretch to secure the win.
Brett Hollenbeck led Post Falls with 17 points.
