Vandals Sign O’Neal For Football

University of Idaho football coach Chris Tormey announced Thursday that Charles O’Neal of Barstow, Calif., has signed a national letter of intent to attend the Moscow school this fall.

O’Neal’s addition brings to 27 the number of new players in UI’s program.O’Neal is a 6-foot-2, 254-pound defensive lineman who was a three-year starter at Barstow High.

Scott Linehan will replace Bill Diedrick as offensive coordinator at the University of Washington, UW coach Jim Lambright announced.

Diedrick, a former Washington State and Idaho assistant, will remain as quarterbacks coach, and Linehan will continue to coach receivers.

Women’s basketball

North Idaho College evened its Scenic West Athletic Conference record with an 87-41 thrashing of visiting Treasure Valley on Thursday night at Christianson Gym.

NIC, led by Tanya Kirk’s 17 points, improved to 16-6 overall, 6-6 in the SWAC. Treasure Valley is 2-19, 1-11.

“I’m pretty well pleased,” Crimp said. “Anytime you can get everyone into the game and get everyone involved it’s good for the team.”

Coeur d’Alene completed its non-league slate with a pair of home losses: 55-12 to Bonners Ferry and 53-18 to Priest River. CdA freshman Andy Vredenburg had a pin at 125 pounds against BF. CdA’s Dusty Gatten (160) earned a pin against PR.
