Greyhounds Rally Past Rams In Ot

Frontier/NEA boys

Nick Mirkovich scored seven of his 15 points in overtime to lead the Pullman boys basketball team to a 70-66 Frontier League win over visiting Riverside Friday night.

Mirkovich hit a 3-pointer to open the extra period and made four free throws down the stretch to help Pullman (10-6, 6-2 Frontier League) strengthen its hold on second place in the standings.

The Rams’ (11-6, 5-4) Donny Hodgson sent the game into overtime after making a pair of free-throws with 3 seconds remaining. Mirkovich had scored a free throw 2 seconds earlier to put the Greyhounds up 61-59.

Pullman held a significant edge on the boards, outrebounding Riverside 38-27.

David Schillinger scored 28 points and was 6 for 8 from 3-point range to lift the fourth-ranked Eagles (15-2, 8-1) past the host Bantams (6-7, 3-4).

Vinnie Pecht had 10 rebounds and Josh Sweet dished out eight assists for West Valley.

Josh Martin had nine rebounds and 25 points for Clarkston.

George Petticrew scored six of his 30 points in overtime as the Eagles (13-7, 10-4 Northeast A League) edged the visiting Cardinals (8-5, 11-8) and clinched a tie for second place in the NEA.

Petticrew’s 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in regulation capped Lakeside’s rally from a seven-point deficit in the fourth period.

Garen Friberg scored 36 points and Nick Schuerman added 20 as the Scotties (14-5, 9-4) cruised past the visiting Bulldogs (5-13, 2-10).

Friberg had 12 rebounds for Freeman and went 14 for 15 from the free-throw line.

The Scotties have a chance to tie Lakeside for second place in the NEA with a win over Chewlah tonight.
