Dear Heloise: We just finished painting several rooms. Before finishing all the rooms we had to do a small touch-up in the first one. Since we had used a different color in each room and the paint cans were too big to keep, I filled a baby food jar with paint used for each room. I closed them tightly and stored a jar away in each room.

All the paint was custom mixed, so we knew if we ever needed more we would have trouble getting even a small amount to match. Since I didn’t have any baby food jars at home, I called the day care center my son goes to and asked them to save a half-dozen for me. - Angie Jeffcoat, Pelion, S.C.

Dear Heloise: After drying one to two loads of clothes, I use the fabric-softener sheet to clean off the dryer lint screen. Works great! - Grace Talbott, Greenwood, Ind.
