Tipoff: The Eagles (2-18) take a break from Big Sky Conference play when they visit the Hornets (4-17).

At a glance: EWU has learned losing close games doesn’t always feel much better than losing by 20. “It’s been one or two little errors that have cost us lately,” coach Steve Aggers said. In their last three games - losses to Montana (71-70), Idaho State (56-55) and Boise State (70-65 in OT) - the Eagles have replaced glaring deficiencies with more subtle, but equally frustrating shortcomings. EWU has lost 20 straight Division I games and 10 straight overall. Four of the Eagles’ conference losses have been by a total of seven points, not counting Saturday night’s close call.

Leaders: EWU: D’mitri Rideout, 11.7 ppg; Adam Dean, 5.9 rpg; Travis King, 3.1 apg. Sac State: Abie Ramirez, 12.6 ppg, 8.0 rpg; Markel Sadler, 4.0 apg.
