Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: The tops of worn-out socks make fine glass covers. Pull over the glass to keep sweating off of tables. - Karon Causey, Riverside, Calif.

Worn out socks can be reused in other ways, too.

Make a cheap pet toy by stuffing one into another and tie.

Store golf or tennis balls in them.

Sew on buttons to make a face for a hand puppet for the kids.

Put on the end of a broomstick, secure with a rubber band and use to clean cobwebs from corners of your house.

Put burned-out light bulbs in and discard to prevent any broken pieces from puncturing the garbage bag. - Heloise
