WSU At Idaho

Tipoff: The Cougars (11-8) try to run their modest winning streak to three in the 7:05 p.m. non-conference Kibbie Dome meeting with the struggling Vandals (9-11).

At a glance: These are desperate days on the Palouse, which makes tonight’s 250th renewal of this Border Battle rivalry more intriguing than it probably has a right to be. Neither WSU nor Idaho has played up to preseason expectations. Their first meeting in mid-December resulted in a ragged 66-54 Cougars win. Now, neither team is shooting well. Idaho has lost four in a row, but has a four-game home winning streak over the Cougars. WSU hasn’t beaten UI in the Kibbie Dome since sneaking away with a 66-64 overtime win in early January of 1987. Idaho has announced that $2 from every general admission ticket sold for tonight’s game will be donated equally to flood relief efforts in Latah and Whitman counties.

Leaders: WSU: Isaac Fontaine, 18.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg; Mark Hendrickson, 15.4 ppg, 9.4 rpg; Donminic Ellison, 12.6 ppg, 5.1 apg. Idaho: Reggie Rose, 13.5 ppg, 3.0 apg; Jason Jackson, 12.6 ppg; Harry Harriston, 9.5 rpg.
