Dear Heloise: I was wondering if, with all your contacts, you could help me. I have paper dimes from the early 1700s and a paper one-third of a dollar from the 1700s.

We contacted a couple of coin dealers in our area and they said that the paper money you have is probably colonial currency.

You can take the money to any coin dealer in your area and they should have reference books where you can look up its value.

It is usually best to get a couple of offers from different dealers to make sure you get a fair price. Good luck! - Heloise
