April 1 is the best date to put up the for-sale sign outside your house, despite the fact that is April Fool’s Day. That’s some of the advice offered in “Stephen Pollan’s Foolproof Guide to Selling Your Home.”

Home repair advice

In a market niche already crowded with how-to guides, there’s yet another new book out focusing on home repair advice. “Small Home Repairs Made Easy” assumes the reader has absolutely no knowledge about how to do home repairs. Hence, the directions are simple and step-by-step.

The book’s published by a non-profit consumer group and is available for $7.45 (includes postage) from Consumer Education, 1980 Springfield Ave., Maplewood, NJ 07040. More information is available for those with Web access at http://chelsea.ios.com/rberko or via e-mail at rberko@chelsea.ios.com.
