Highly Rated Running Back Among Three WSU Signees
Washington State University added three players to its football recruiting class on Thursday, including a running back who was named the Los Angeles Times’ player of the year.
Fred Lee, Jefferson Love and Jonathan Nance have signed national letters of intent to attend Washington State, coach Mike Price said. They join 21 other Cougars recruits announced last week.
Lee, 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, lettered as a running back and as a point guard in basketball at Locke High School in Los Angeles.
As a senior, he was named the Los Angeles Times’ prep football player of the year and received seven of a possible 10 votes in the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s Best in the West list. He finished the season with 1,864 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns.
Love, a 6-3, 250-pound tight end, attended Bolsa Grande High in Garden Grove, Calif., and the University of Pacific, where he redshirted as a freshman in the 1994 season. He did not attend school last fall.
Nance, a 6-6, 240-pound defensive end, played in Florida at Miami Senior High. He is a transfer from Chaffey Junior College.
