Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: While cleaning the bathroom one day, I ended up with a handful of soap slivers. On the spur of the moment, I dumped them in a very fine mesh bag (the kind that grapes come in). I made a knot and used the whole thing later while taking a shower.

It’s as good as any loofah sponge I ever used, and it’s also a lot cheaper. I don’t use just leftover soap in it now. My grandson thinks it’s nice too. One day when he was taking his bath here, his mom in attendance, he was screaming, “I want the green stuff.” The bag happens to be green and this is what he wanted. - N. Harris, Killeen, Texas

Dear Heloise: When packing lunch sandwiches with mayo and/or mustard and lettuce, keep the lettuce crisp by keeping it in a separate bag. When it’s time to eat, insert the lettuce in the sandwich. - A California Reader, Escondido, Calif.
