Vandal Indoor Begins Tonight

The longest-running indoor track and field meet this side of the Mississippi - the University of Idaho’s 21st Annual Vandal Indoor - begins tonight at 6:30 in the Kibbie Dome.

“This is an opportunity to see a high quality meet and to see people who are training for the Olympics,” Idaho track and field coach Mike Keller said. “It’s a 2-hour show with no distractions.”

Dan O’Brien, the current world record holder in the decathlon, will compete in the 55 dash, 55 hurdles and the high jump.

Mark Davis will compete in the men’s mile. Davis is the American record holder for 2 miles and has run a 3-minute, 54-second mile.

The high jump will be the only field event conducted, but the men’s event features eight athletes who have gone over 7 feet.

Admission is $5 for adults, while children under 12 get in free.
