Elaine Knapheide Colville, Wash.
No service will be held for Norma Elaine Knapheide, 69, at her request. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Knapheide, who died Friday, was born in Colville.
She graduated from Colville High School in 1944 and then moved to Spokane and worked as a secretary for Kaiser in Trentwood. She also worked for 15 years as a secretary at the Bakers Union in Spokane.
She married Lowell “Doc” Knapheide in 1963 in Spokane. He died in 1984, and Mrs. Knapheide returned to Colville in 1991.
Survivors include three brothers, Dan and Bob Inman, both of Colville, and Bill Inman of Burlington, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
Barbara Bonin Hayden, Idaho
Memorial service for Barbara May Bonin, 67, will be March 9 at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Bonin, who was born in Lynden, Wash., died Tuesday.
She moved to Ferndale, Wash., at a young age and graduated from high school in Colfax, Wash.
She had lived throughout the Midwest before moving to Hayden.
She enjoyed sewing and traveling and loved to fish and camp.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Walter; three sons, Michael and David, both of Seattle, and Patrick of Vancouver, Wash.; four daughters, Jeanne Paradis of Mount Vernon, Wash., Susan Moseman of Kansas, Linda Inge of Moses Lake and Wendy Clarke of Kingston, Wash.; a sister, Betty McConnell of Spokane; and one great-grandchild.
Jean Toews Spokane
Private service will be held for Jean (Freeborn) Toews, 49.
Born in Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Toews died Tuesday.
She served as the program director at the maximum security unit of Lincoln Regional Center from 1967 until 1974. She took a medical retirement due to multiple sclerosis.
She had lived in Spokane since 1975.
Mrs. Toews received Kaiser Aluminum’s One Person Can Make a Difference Award in 1984, acted as chair of the Washington State Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues from 1982 until 1987, and received the National Multiple Sclerosis Individual Achievement Award in 1994.
She was a member of the Spokane Women’s Commission, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Spokane CORD and the Washington State Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues.
Her survivors include her husband, Jay Toews; one daughter, Marcia Cheadle; two sons, Jerald and Joshua Toews; one stepdaughter, Deborah Toews; and two stepsons, Ronald and Jay Toews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
